Glynda's athletic background includes competitive swimming and water skiing. She loves the varied nature of CrossFit, but her passion is Olympic lifting with a healthy dose of mobility work. Glynda will tell you that CrossFit is an excellent vehicle for weight loss; however, it is only 30% of the equation. This already-fit mama lost 20 pounds by dialing in her nutrition, and she's an advocate of eating and eating well!  

In her spare time, you'll find Dr. McConville at her orthodontic clinic, running half-marathons, or hanging with her two children and physician/cyclist husband.   

Pete Conaty

Attend Pete's class, and you will find a committed, caring, and motivating Coach. An experienced athlete, Pete played football and baseball in college and went on to play minor league baseball. As his work ethic shows, he strives to give his all to whatever he is doing.

A scientist and a (retired) teacher, Pete is passionate about making sure that athletes understand the purpose of their training and how learning one move can have a positive effect on learning another move.

He is a Master athlete who frequently outperforms the young folks in the gym—in 2017 he was number 38 in the world in the Open.

Jesse Iversen

A former college football player, Jesse brings years of athletic experience to the gym. Athletes who have worked with him appreciate his patience and motivational style. When he's not pumping iron in the gym, you'll find Jesse fulfilling his call to service at the fire station.

Chris is a true advocate for a healthy lifestyle and has encouraged numerous people, across four gyms and at the fire station, to be their best selves. Chris' passion for weightlifting began as a scrawny-necked wrestler and football player in the '90s, and he's never stopped lifting heavy. His steady back squat has been likened to a car lift, and he loves to clean and jerk. 

In his spare time, Chris tinkers with his 1948 Chevy truck, does woodworking, and runs Spartan Races with his wife. This fire chief and wife Michelle live with their four kids and a flock of chickens in Sanford.

Mike is known around the gym for making people feel right at home. This good-natured and dedicated law enforcement official spends most afternoons at the gym, where you'll often find him giving the other coaches a hard time! 

Mike believes in CrossFit because he has seen significant results. He weighed 303 pounds before deciding to make some nutrition and exercise changes. Now, he's 100 pounds down and the guy most others are trying to keep up with.

"A big guy in a fitness space tailored for the little guys, I make do by lifting heavy, hard, and fast while running slow and skipping the handstand push-ups. While I think CrossFit has its drawbacks I love that it brings people to the barbell to share the pursuit of improvement through dedication, failure, and resilience."  

Zack and Tammy Luikart

Creating Phalanx CrossFit has been a labor of love for Zack, Tammy, and their families. The concept originated during a family dinner conversation, and the training plan followed shortly after.  Zack, Tammy, and their families believe in the ideals that the phalanx represents.

Zack and Tammy have a passion for programming, coaching, and training, and their goal at Phalanx CrossFit is to foster a positive training environment with unparalleled coaching where everyone is:
- comfortable being uncomfortable;
- willing to try new things and fail and try again;
- eager to improve and encourage others as they improve;
- in love with the challenge and excited about pushing themselves.

Tammy shifted her fitness emphasis from distance running to CrossFit after observing the impressive physical gains made by peers doing CrossFit. Since then, she competed on a team at the CrossFit Games in 2010 and as an individual at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Tammy has her Ph.D. in English and commands the 431st Civil Affairs Battalion in the Army Reserve.

As an active duty service member, Zack has had the opportunity to train with athletes at all levels (from couch potato to Special Operations soldier) all around the world. He is known around the gym for his knowledge, patience, and kindness.
